- Legitimate interest (the Journal cannot offer the service of navigating its content without the technical and functional cookies used);

Subscribers
When you subscribe to receive notifications
- We collect data you provide: your name, email address, and country, as well as optional biographical data (university affiliation, homepage, etc.)
- We use this data to send you notifications of upcoming issues and major announcements
What is the legal basis for processing my personal data?
- Contract: by subscribing, you request a service (notification of new content) for which we need to process your personal data.
How long will my data be processed?
- Your data may be processed for the above purpose until you unsubsribe, after which it will be deleted. To unsubscribe, please contact us.
Who has access to my data?
- None of your data is shared with any other party.
Reviewers
We invite reviewers to assess submitted articles for double blind peer review.
We do this via private email and only register you in the system as reviewer (name, email address) after you have accepted. After we have entered your registration data you can adapt them, and you basically enter a contract.
What is the legal basis for processing my personal data?
Registration as a reviewer is based on the agreement (contract) to review a specified submission. When your review is done you can consent to your data remaining available for subsequent reviews. If you don’t consent, your data will be removed.
How is my personal data used (for what purpose)?
Your personal data is processed insofar as necessary for enabling a specific review process. If you consent it can remain stored to invite you for another review.

When you submit a manuscript
What data is collected?
- The data you provide: your name, email address, country, affiliation
- In case of a multi-author manuscript, one author shall be indicated as the corresponding author, who will receive subsequent communications from us
- Article metadata
How do you use my personal data (for what purpose)?
- To identify you, internally or publicly, as an author
- To make communication possible for the editorial process, such as receiving, storing, publishing, peer-reviewing your submission and communicating with you in this context
- To inform readers about the authorship and editing of content
What is the legal basis for processing my personal data?
Contract.
- By submitting a manuscript, you agree to comply with CRCL submission requirements, which are regarded as contract terms
- You agree that your personal information (name, affiliation, email address) will be available to the general public since all articles are published open access
- Your personal data will only be processed for the purposes stated above
How long will my data be processed?
- Your data will be stored in the website’s database to enable the proper functioning of the journal
Who will have access to my personal data?
- Public article metadata is shared with various third-party open access repositories.
